A look back at the 2014 World Pairs, Now the dates have been announced Team MAS members Vince Callaghan and David Herron will fish this years event in September. The World Pairs is a wonderful event run over 5 days on some of the most beautiful venues you will find anywhere. Here we take a look back at 2014 event where we finished in a respectable 36th place with lots of lessons learnt last year David and Vince will be look to break into at least the top 20 this year and will be aiming higher. P
For several years I have been visiting Bankend Fishery near Finningley. I usually fish here during the winter months as the silverfish fishing, in my opinion, is some of the best Bloodworm fishing in the country. In a typical five hour session can see me catching between twenty and thirty pounds of Roach or Skimmers. The two methods that I usually use are either pole or slider. You will generally catch Skimmers on the Slider and Roach on the pole.
Nearly 500 miles, 3 am start, 1 train and many many motorways! Apologies for not getting this posted last night. The Saturday before the 2nd round of Winter league on the Sunday seen myself at the Waterside Pub side practising with my Greenhill AC piscatorial, John Kilby who has been fishing very successfully local Leicestershire commercial pools but he fancied a change. He expressed a great interest in fishing canals and rivers and expanding his skill set, he certainly did as Top Wigston Rod Joe Oakes gave John an hour of his time …… massive learning curve for John as Joe soon had him bagging.
